Senior Financial Planning and Analyst

Position Summary:

This is an exciting, high impact opportunity that gives the candidate the opportunity to work directly with the CFO, senior leadership, and cross functional peers to help drive performance. The FP&A Analyst will have high visibility within the organization with opportunities for career growth as we continue to build out the team and expand our business. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have natural intellectual curiosity and will take pride in owning their work and leveraging their role to impact results.

This position is five days on-site at corporate office headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. We own and operate over 90+ car wash locations in multiple states. The company is in high growth mode with plans to expand to over 120 locations by the end of 2024.

Job Description

If you are a Senior Financial Analyst with a natural intellectual curiosity who thrives in a multi-unit business environment, come join our Team. Your responsibilities will include providing financial insights into historical and current performance and trends, reporting KPIs, getting to the why behind the financial performance and building various financial models and analyses that will help drive the business forward. You will support the strategic planning processes for all stakeholders across the organization. You will partner with Operations, Marketing, HR, Accounting, Development, and executive management to evaluate and quantify options to improve growth, profit, and operating efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: for the Sr. Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Support financial and KPI reporting and performance monitoring for the entire organization.

  • Leverage and help build out key data sources (Domo, Planful, Smartsheets) to develop dashboards, systems, and automated processes to provide enhanced reporting functionality and easy, self-service access to information.

  • Inform operational and strategic decision making by providing stakeholders with timely, detailed, and meaningful data-driven insights and visibility to business performance.

  • Partner with sales & operations teams to collaborate on KPIs, goals, and analysis.

  • Financial modeling – Support preparation of financial models specifically for marketing and real estate investments with an integrated set of financial statements, assumptions and metrics. Analyze past results and future outcomes in conjunction with market analyses to develop recommendations for changes in model assumptions. Perform sensitivity analyses to assess reasonable range of outcomes.

  • Identify and research variances to budgeted and historical metrics and accounts while proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Perform ad hoc analysis and functionality as needed for strategic planning, special projects, and management reports.

  • Planning process – Support the compilation of unit and concept-level annual plan and prepare analysis of actual results compared to budget, forecast and prior year. Highlight and understand major forecast assumptions and their effects on company/concept outlook. Perform sensitivity analyses to assess reasonable range of outcomes. Support the preparation of the company’s rolling forecasts and long rang plan in support of strategic initiatives.

  • Process improvement – Continuously develop tools/systems and automate processes. Evaluate current processes, identify best practices, develop plans to reach goals and implement improvements.

  • Ensures confidentiality and professionalism are maintained when dealing with sensitive business and personnel information.

  • Project support and ad hoc requests – Support development and preparation of ad hoc financial and business analytics on numerous revenue and expense areas, return on investment analyses and other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred.

Experience: Experience must include 4+ years of progressive financial planning & analysis with multi-unit businesses, including development of complex financial models. Preferred experience in private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or corporate finance/strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Solid technical skills with an aptitude for learning a variety of proficiency in Business Intelligence tools and database applications (Domo, PowerBI, Tableau preferred), Accounting ERPs (Dynamics preferred but not mandatory) and advanced Excel modeling.

  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics including budgets and KPI dashboards.

  • High value placed on attention-to-detail and delivering high-quality, accurate work product.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.

  • Familiarity with multi-unit or location-driven business models

  • Ability to work directly with senior leaders and operators to identify growth, profit improvement, and operating efficiency opportunities and collaborate to make them happen.

  • Self-starter that finds opportunities to support the business and fulfill his or her responsibilities.

  • Ability to use numbers and financial modeling to evaluate the business, opportunities, and risks.

  • Broad knowledge of financial concepts and techniques.

  • Strong personal computer skills including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Word).

  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting.

  • Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior with flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and to assist with various ad hoc projects as needed. ?

Requires the ability to interact with others, interpret spoken or written messages and utilize reason to resolve complex problems. Requires keyboarding, listening, and talking, some standing and walking, and prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Requires occasional lifting and carrying of up to 15 pounds.
